The relaxed and friendly atmosphere at A l'Ecole Française makes the learning experience a pleasure. The small class size gives everyone an opportunity to participate. The work is well structured and the teachers are always thoroughly prepared. However, they are also comfortable making a detour from the plan if something interesting and useful comes up.
In any given class session, there is a variety of types of activities. This makes the material accessible to every student, regardless of his or her learning style. It also helps spark interest.
Instructors also offer learning experiences beyond the classroom. Over the ten years that I have been taking classes at A l'Ecole Française, these have ranged from film screenings to ski trips and from kitchen tastings to guided Halloween tours of Laurel Hill Cemetery.

I first came to A l'Ecole Française because I had been sent to France for a story I was covering for the Philadelphia Daily News in 1997. I realized while I was there that my high school French wasn't going to cut it if I was going to stay on top of this big, international story. So, I enrolled in a weekly beginner's class at A l'Ecole Française. By the time I returned to France for that same story, in 2000, I was able to conduct all my interviews in French!
I am now in my 11th year at the school. I no longer need the French language for my job, but I still continue to study it because I've made so many friends and have had so many valuable experiences at the school. Speaking French - and studying it at A l'Ecole Française - has become an integral part of my life!

I have been taking lessons for several years from Patricia and can highly recommend her services. Because she well recognizes the needs of her industrial clients, she has always been accomodating to my dynamic and challenging schedule. I have been taking French lessons with A l’Ecole Française for several years and would highly recomment it.
I have taken group classes at the school and am now taking private lessons at Arkema. We spend a large portion of each hour in conversation, which is very useful for me, since speaking and understanding spoken French are skills I need to improve. Our discussions cover a wide range of topics, from travel to health to pets. The instructor is good at asking questions to stimulate an interesting conversation that forces me to use a range of sentence structure and vocabulary. In most classes and in my homework, I also practice reading and writing, helping me to learn all of the fundamental skills required for command of a language. Although we do not use a book, the instruction I’ve received is tailored to my level and needs.
My instructor never misses a class, and goes out of her way to schedule a session on a different day, if either of us has a conflict. I believe A l’Ecole Française is an excellent choice for French language instruction at Arkema.

I have particularly enjoyed developing friendships with other francophiles who share various interests outside the classroom at A l'Ecole Française. A few of us have shared dinners where we spoke primarily in French - challenging and rewarding! Our Instructor is very patient and encouraging. It is impossible not to say something in French during the class, and everyone tries hard to understand and respond, to build a conversation.

I have been studying French at A l'Ecole Française for three years. I had French in high school, and now I am preparing for a big family trip to France in May 2008. I enjoy my classes. Teachers are friendly and knowledgeable, and my classmates are very interesting. I am an intermediate student. Each week, we read, speak, and write. We have parties, like for Bastille Day, and the end of year celebration. Sometimes, I watch French movies at the school "ciné-club".

I would like to thank you for the professional and personal way that you convey the learning of a language. I have been very comfortable and happy and I think the benefactor of high quality learning through your efforts in teaching me Français. Your notes and lecture materials are very organised and constructed to build upon the lesson before. I find the material to quickly lend itself to conversation while maintaining the fundamental grammar and structure that are needed to properly build a competency.
You have helped me tremendously and although I have a long way to go, I feel I have the capability for understanding what I hear and an ability to pronounce properly- this enables supplemental learning with books and tape, that I would not be able to do without the foundation you built. I have had the opportunity to learn Spanish, Latin, and German over the years either through school or my work situation and your methods are quick to pay dividends. I also very much appreciate your teaching in that you know my pace, work on my skills and adjust the lesson to my needs. I also think you are demanding and follow your laid out schedule, so you keep a high expectation while balancing the areas I need help in; I can’t get that from a tape or from a large class at a night school, your approach is tailored perfectly for me.

I have taken French classes for almost two and a half years with Patricia Le foll from A L’Ecole Française at our Research Center in King of Prussia. Overall I am very satisfied with the instruction approach and the methodology followed in class to improve both my oral and written proficiency.
